I added a finger hole to the first set of gloves I did up. Helps with putting them on and also allows you to hang them from your belt with a carabiner. I cut the hole, singed it with a soldering iron, then lined it with some epoxy. I likethis better than the loop I sewed onto the second pair.

For more added lightness, remove your skin, trim your hair and nails, remove body hair, remove all boogers, earwax, and drive naked. Make sure you go on an empty stomach and you pee and poop before driving.

Why not put the hole at the top? Now your palm is exposed.

erm, no. that is literally the place where you need the leather protection the most.

if you want a finger hole, put on on the top. but under/palm side, that needs to be as protected as possible.

And rip out some organs. We don’t need two lungs, for example.

The hole is over the upper part of the wrist. The base of the hand (which is what will most likely hit the ground) still has full coverage. It’s also cut into a reinforced section of the glove that is about 1/8" thick cowhide. Unless you fell off your bike onto a knife or a 5/8" steel pipe pointed straight up, the hole won’t affect the leather protection.

Keep in mind these are short cuffed leather gloves, and are a compromise in the protection department. If you’re looking for max protection, you definitely want to go with a fully cuffed and strapped glove with kevlar insert and hard knuckle protection. I wear these gloves mostly to protect from general cuts and scrapes from rocks and such and to absorb some of the vibration from the bike. I’m usually jacketless with an open faced helmet and smoking a cancer stick while riding.

You forgot to mention jerking off. Can’t have that semen weighing you down!

I hope you realize I was joking with the add lightness title.

That goes without saying...gas money is a necessity.

Mostly because I didn’t want a tan circle forming on the top of my hand. The hole is actually over the upper part of the wrist, below the heel of my hand. The part of your hand that would most likely hit the asphalt is fully covered.

Cool! I think a narrow oval might be helpful in ensuring coverage, but I still like the direction you’re heading.

Bt chance, can you cut leather with a hot automotive cigarette lighter? It’s just the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the photo...

I love this. I’ve been looking for leather gloves to match my XS, and I think these this would be perfect. Also kudos to you for riding in the AZ heat.

Thanks! I have a local moto club interested in buying a bunch, so I’m going to work on perfecting my technique, mess around with some more designs, and then I’ll let you guys know how to get a pair if you’re interested.

You probably could, but it might take a while depending on the thickness of the glove. On these gloves I have the cuff folded under and sewn in place, so there’s four layers of cowhide there. They make hollow leather punches, and harbor freight sells a set for like $8. I think I’m going to install a brass eyelet in there to ensure the hole keeps it’s shape. I might offer it as an option for people who are worried about the hole stretching. Personally, I really like the look of it without the eyelet.

Which? I’m in Phoenix. I was planning to mod a set of my own, but if you’re making a set locally, count me interested.

Edit: Problem being, it’ll be time-consuming, since you can’t automate anything. But you might be able to find some help with the dye/oil, once you’ve nailed the design.

They’re called 32 on 2. They’re a pretty loose club with some dudes out of state. My wife actually runs her own boutique clothing company and has some pretty fancy equipment. She's much more experienced with hand made clothing and would help me out if there's a ton of interest.
